LeBron James scored a season-high 30 points and the reigning National Basketball Association champion Cleveland Cavaliers stayed undefeated, beating the Boston Celtics 128-122 on Thursday night.
Kevin Love scored a season-high 26 points and Kyrie Irving scored 23 for Cleveland.
It is Cleveland's best start since winning its first eight games in 1976-77.
Kevin Love added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the reigning champion Cavaliers, who improved to 6-0.
Four-time NBA Most Valuable Player James scored on a fast-break layup with 6:02 remaining in the first quarter against the host 76ers to move one point ahead of Olajuwon's career total of 26,946 points. The rest, like Olajuwon, are centers or power forwards.
"I think he could if he wanted to", said coach Tyronn Lue before the Cleveland Cavaliers' 128-122 win over the Boston Celtics on Thursday. In a short amount of time, going back to exhibition season, he has guarded Cleveland's LeBron James, New York's Carmelo Anthony and Chicago's Jimmy Butler, all with varying success. But that seemed to just motivate him even more-still able to make the list all-time career scorers before the first quarter's buzzer.
"It's not on there and I never thought it would be possible again after obviously The Big O did it, but if you see the game today, you see guys like [Russell Westbrook] and what he's doing every night and I've come close a few times this season", James said.
IN had other ideas and closed with a flurry led by George who hit a 3-pointer with 9:28 to go, cutting the deficit to 95-82.
All three of these guys are capable of maintaining those numbers over the course of the season because they're skilled enough, and because of how much they control their team.
Jeff Teague scored 21 points to lead six IN players IN double figures, and the Pacers dominated Chicago from start to finish to get the win.
Thunder 112, Timberwolves 92: Russell Westbrook scored 28 points to lead Oklahoma City to a victory over Minnesota. Wade scored 35 points with 10 rebounds Friday against the Knicks.
Evan Fournier scored 29 points and Serge Ibaka added 17 to lead the Orlando Magic to a 102-94 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. Cleveland attempts to continue its hot start when it visits the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. And just like that, after 13 seasons of leading every National Basketball Association team he's ever starred on in scoring, USA Today reports James has transformed himself into an even more unpredictable and arguably potent force.
Mirza Teletovic, however, made a decision to get a haircut. Last season, Love averaged 4.1 freebies per game. James is so great one reporter asked whether the future Hall of Famer could realistically average a triple-double, and it didn't sound totally nuts when James replied, in part, "I can do whatever I put my mind to, but my mind ain't on it".
Guard Jamal Crawford scored 16 points for the Clippers and forward Marreese Speights added 15.
