Tiger Woods to Play at Genesis Open 2017

Tiger Woods made his return to golf earlier this month at the Hero World Challenge where he showed flashes of good and flashes of bad.

Fourteen-time major victor Tiger Woods will compete in the Genesis Open in Los Angeles next February - the start of what he hopes will be a full schedule for 2017.

Woods has not played in the L.A. tournament since 2006, usually favoring the Farmers Insurance Open at San Diego's Torrey Pines, scene of his most memorable win, the 2008 U.S. Open.

"I started watching golf in the late nineties and Tiger Woods was just coming along. It was my first PGA Tour event", Woods said on the Tiger Woods Foundation website. It was my first PGA Tour event. "It was a life-changing moment for me", he said.

While Day is now the top-ranked player in the world, he understands Woods' legacy and would not even begin to tell him how to play the game. "To come back to the Genesis Open". In a selfish way, I want him to come back.

The event is already one of the highlights of the early season schedule, played on one of the more classic courses overflowing with character.

Also, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will take place February 9-12. Playing one or two of them, though, is entirely possible.

Tiger Woods waves during the final round of the Hero World Challenge at Albany in Nassau, Bahamas December 4, 2016. Next year will be interesting since old timers like Woods and Phil Mickelson will be joining Jordan Spieth, Rory Mcllory and Dustin Johnson, who are all at the peak of their prowess.
