David Beckham: No Threat To The Environment

A quote allegedly originating from a British environmental agency called the Carbon Trust, which criticizes David Beckham for amassing a large carbon footprint due to his continual air travel, has been denied by the organization.

The story claims that Beckham's carbon footprint - a measure of how much a person impacts the environment by the amount of greenhouse gases their life produces - was claimed to be the largest in human history.

"With all his money he (David Beckham) should be using it at least to reduce his own footprint. He has more freedom of choice when it comes to methods of traveling. He could also choose greener cars," Carbon Trust was quoted as saying.

It states that Beckham is responsible for 163 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, compared to an average of 9.4 tonnes for a person from his home country, Britain.

The Carbon Trust has denied ever making such a claim, stating that the whole thing was "simply a hoax" that has spread on the internet.
