Eminem Book: Publisher Jumped The Gun

February 19th, 2008

A UK publisher jumped the gun on Tuesday (February 19) when he announced Eminem’s plans to release a biographysaid the rappers publicist, as the book is far from completion or release, and the publisher who announced "inaccurate information" about the project is not even "involved in the day-to-day creation of the book".

Ian Preece, the senior commissioning editor for the Orion Publishing Group, spoke about the Eminem book this week, claiming that its title will be ‘The Way I Am’, and that the book will feature unseen photographs, sketches of lyrics and hand-drawn art. Preece described the book as a visual and written memoir of the artist, who’s real name is Marshall Mathers.

"Because of where he is from, people think they know where he is at, what kind of person he really is," Preece said.

The Celebrity Truth asked Mather’s publicist, Dennis Dennehy, to confirm the details of the project – and while he acknowledged that a "there is a book in the works", he was reticent to confirm the announcement made by Preece.

"There is a book in the works from Eminem, in which he details certain aspects of his personal and professional life. The book is still in the process of being written and edited," Dennehy said.

"There is no firm release date scheduled, although it is anticipated to arrive in the latter part of this year. The news about the project today came from the UK publisher, who is not involved in the day-to-day editing or creation of the book. It’s unfortunate that someone who does not have intimate knowledge of the book felt compelled to jump the gun on announcing it by delivering partial and inaccurate information."
