Despite an agreesive marketing and promotional campaign, Kylie Minogue’s new album ‘X’ has generated shockingly poor sales in its first week after debuting at a disappointing 139 on the US Billboard charts.
Following a massive week of promotion - which included interviews on the US Today show, a live performance on ‘Dancing With The Stars’, and a headline-grabbing chat with Ellen DeGeneres - Minogue’s album has failed to rate a mention.
‘X’ debuted in the top spot in her native Australia and number 2 in Britain, but sold just 6,000 copies in the US in its first week on sale, according to the official results from Nielsen Soundscan.
A spokeperson for Minogue has brushed off the poor sales result, explaining to Reuters that many of her "core fans" had previously bought the album via import when it was released in other countries last year. They added that the marketing campaign was still in it’s infancy.

I think Kylie is a superstar… She’s just promoting the WRONG songs! she should have launched her CD with “the one” which is a much stronger song… and then go on to wow, 2 hearts, no more rain, stars but whatever… I still bought the album and I like it…

I love her new album, and I’m american I saw her performing on the show “Dancing with the Stars” and “Ellen De Generes” and she was amazing, probably is that she has to wait till the single “ALl I See” which I think it would be a Top Ten at U.S., receives a radio release, cause the radio release is programed for April 15, 2008 and nobody knows but her fans, that she has release a new album, Kylie has to wait and be patient, cause this song it would be at the Top Ten and it would be a number-one at the dance charts, you can do it Kylie, don’t give up!

I Love X But i think Kylie hould re-release it as a Special Edition ASAP With the Freemasons remixing all the tracks as a bonus cd….Like Beyonce did with Bday…I Think she should also use The One as a Single with a breathtaking video.

I’m not particularly concerned about the Kylie X success in the U.S.. If she finds more fans in America, so much the better.
She’s right, her fans in the U.S. find ways to collect her CDs without any help from the U.S. MTV music machine. We just have to be a bit more patient because of the different formats. PAL Vs. NTSC
“Always Love For Kylie!”

What a shame Kylie didn’t make it in the US - it would have been the perfect way for us poor UK citizens to finally rid ourselves of the horse-faced moron.
