An internet rumor circulating that Brad Pitt was going to be honored by his hometown, Springfield, Missouri, with a museum dedicated to the star has been denied, with a public relations manager for the town saying that the story was taken out of context.
The reported quote, made by Susan Wade, the public relations manager at the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, said, "Springfield is very Midwestern and family-oriented. We’re glad to have Brad as part of our history and culture. In fact, we need a Brad Pitt Museum."
Many news outlets and gossip sites picked up on the quote, with Wade then forced to clarify.
"It’s a bogus story," Wade told Usmagazine.com.
"I was quoted in November saying, ‘We JOKE that we need a Brad Pitt museum’. Changes were made to the quote. I think it started in Thailand Wednesday morning."
