Actor Shia LaBeouf has announced the new title for the highly anticipated fourth Indiana Jones movie, scheduled for release on Memorial Day next year, while onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday (September 9).
The fourth film in the franchise, once again starring Harrison Ford and produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, has had fans guessing at the title, as six potential names had been registered with the Motion Picture Association of America.
LaBeouf, who’s starring alongside Ford in the new movie, is rumored to play Indiana’s long lost son, and made the announcement on stage saying, "I’ve been sworn to secrecy by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas not to tell you the title of the next Indiana Jones movie."
Looking a little nervous, the ‘Transformers’ star continued, "What the hell, I’m 21 and we’re in Vegas baby so here it goes… The official title for the next Indiana Jones installment is (laughs), ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’. It’s a big deal, nobody’s ever heard it before."
The other titles registered were ‘Indiana Jones and City of Gods,’ ‘Indiana Jones and the Lost City of Gold,’ ‘Indiana Jones and the Destroyer of Worlds,’ ‘Indiana Jones and the Quest for the Covenant,’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Fourth Corner of the Earth.’
