Divorce
Kim Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021 after almost 7 years of marriage to Kanye West. The reality star had continuously shut down divorce rumors, but they never quite ceased to appear in the tabloids. Many fans weren’t even sure whether Kim and Kanye were actually getting a divorce, but they have both since confirmed the news.
The now ex-couple had always had issues, some of which they made public. When Kanye infamously said ‘slavery was a choice’ on TMZ live, Kim was outraged and made it clear. Soon after there was a Keeping up with the Kardashians episode detailing their marital problems, and even an episode which showed them fighting over Kim’s clothing choices.
Apparently, Kanye disliked how revealing Kim’s dress was for the 2019 MET Gala, and she responded by saying that he used to like that about her. She also seemed to reference Kanye’s religious transformation, which put another strain in their relationship. Kanye’s new opinions were in stark contrast to Kim’s liberal views.
Kanye’s public outbursts were naturally another reason why their marriage ultimately failed. The rapper would often go on twitter and post hundreds of tweets, some of which were insulting to Kim and her family. Kanye’s run for president in 2020 produced even more bizarre and controversial statements.
The last straw was Kanye’s confession that he asked Kim to abort their firstborn – North during one of his presidential rallies. Although Kim stood by Kanye and explained his outburst was the result of his bipolar disorder, things were not the same afterwards.
Kanye moved to their Wyoming ranch, and a few months later Kim filed for divorce.
Kim Who
Kanye was spotted with supermodel Irina Shayk in Paris on his birthday (June 8th) this year. This immediately sparked dating rumors as the duo looked happy to be together, and Shayk is definitely Kanye’s ‘type’. Many people, however, criticised the rapper for finding a new beau so soon after he officially split with Kardashian.
The rapper and the supermodel immediately started trending on social media with some claiming Kanye looked happier with her. Many articles were written about the new couple, but the latest developments suggest they aren’t a couple to begin with.
Shayk did spend Kanye’s birthday with him in Paris, but so did 50 other people who were also invited. Moreover, sources claim that Shayk is now purposefully avoiding Kanye as to shut down dating rumors. The supermodel is supposedly not looking for a new boyfriend after splitting from Hollywood actor Bradley Cooper with whom she shares a daughter.
New Album, New Beginning
Personal life aside, let us now discuss Kanye West’s upcoming projects. Kanye is teasing a new studio album, which would become his 11th. Here are all his studio albums so far:

The upcoming feature will be called Donda, in memory of the rapper’s late mother. Donda West tragically died on November 10th, 2007. She had three plastic surgeries the previous day (liposuction, tummy tuck, and breast reduction surgery), which went well, but things turned to worse when she decided to leave the hospital and go back home immediately afterwards.
Donda was not only Kanye’s mother and manager – she was his best friend. When she died, Kanye was heartbroken and entered a long cycle of depression and drug abuse. Donda is mentioned in many of his songs (e.g., ‘Clique’), but Kanye felt she deserved a whole album.
This is also his way to reconcile with the past, and he even said that he forgives the doctor who performed his mother’s surgeries. He also had to forgive himself. Despite not being in any way involved in his mother’s death, he blames himself for moving to L.A. Kanye believes if they’d both stayed in Chicago, none of that would have happened.
The rapper chose a touching cover for the album – an abstract painting of a woman – drawn by an artist who had also lost her mother and paid a tribute to her. Apart from exploring his relationship with his mother, Kanye will also examine his divorce from Kim and the relationship with his four children. There are some lyrics such as ‘I’m losing my children’, which sadden fans of the rap star.
The album is also highly anticipated due to the many collaborations on it. Kanye is set to share the scene with Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Pusha T, Playboi Carti, Lil Baby and others. What’s more Kanye appears to tease a full-length collaborative album with Jay-Z. A sequel to their successful feature Watch the Throne (2011).
Donda is set to be released on August 6th, 2021, but knowing Kanye, there might be delays. However, the rapper revealed that he won’t leave Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta, GA), where his listening event occurred, before finishing the album. Funnily, the musician was spotted watching a Major League Soccer game at the venue wearing the outfit he picked for the pre-release event. A representative of Mercedes-Benz Stadium confirmed the rapper was indeed staying there.
